Alabaster is a soft rock that was used to house precious and expensive perfumes and oils in Biblical times.
There is a story in the Bible where a “promiscuous” women poured perfume from an alabaster jar onto Jesus. The value of the perfume equaled a years wages and it was likely used to allure customers

The religious leaders of the day were extremely critical of wasting the perfume. In response to their criticism, Jesus defended the woman’s actions and forgives her for all of her past sins.
The symbolism of pouring out or even breaking the jar; leads us to believe that this woman turned entirely from her old life, most-likely of prostitution, toward a new life with Jesus.
She gave up absolutely everything she had, including shame and dishonor, to follow Jesus. Jesus knew her heart and past and loved her the same.
Each jar is a symbol.
Perfect love. Each jar is about the love the Jesus has for us.
Forgiveness. Each jar symbolizes that if we put our faith in Jesus He will forgive.
Vulnerability. Each jar represents all we have to give and our brokenness.
Redemption. Each jar represents giving up our old life and chasing after new life.
Value. Each jar is to remind us of what is truly of value.
“Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven–as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
