Much of my work revolves around the Biblical idea of redemption (My upcoming Alabaster Jar series focuses on this subject as well).
Though we live in a fallen and imperfect world, God calls us all to himself, turning to Jesus, God Incarnate, we can all be redeemed. We all have a chance at this redemption.
I created this piece after returning from India. I remember being intrigued by the trash and how it was everywhere. But in a country where people were forced to live with their junk, they also used it for beautiful things.
I spent a season creating upcycled artworks. Upcycled art is artworks created using materials that would usually be thrown away, and turning them into something beautiful.
The paper for this piece is made from layers of newspaper and old house paint. On top of that I used liquid acrylic ink to create India inspired henna designs.
Just like Jesus wants to make us new, I made this old news paper and old house paint into pieces of artwork.
Here is a verse to meditate on
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. (From a letter to the Ephesians 1:7)
